So is it safe to say they used 1 gang holder for the Vin#on engine then using the same Stamp holder for the Transmission included inserted the S can't see them using 2 gang holder wouldn't that just confuses things ,

Depends on what year you are referring to.

I don't think its safe to say that. Tim's car strongly suggests that 2 gang holders were used in 1967 and illustrates that the confusion actually occurred. Starting in 1968 a new 9 digit vin derivative format was used on both the engine and the trans.

Pat , so I guess the both holder for both Trans. and engine on a 67 BB had the same font size and there must of been alot of Vin# changes going on a daily basic on every complete engine and trans. assembly ,wonder how many assembly were complete per day .
