Nice car Ed....price seems reasonable. If I were in the market would want the seller to be able to validate all that is claimed. Engine pad, Trim and VIN tags look good. Even the idler pulley is on the engine....many times missing. As you know the '63 had many one year only parts most of which show to be on the car, shifter was unoriginal but that is small potatoes. Any chance of you being able to view the car?- Top

It only took me 15 years to find a correctly dated master cylinder for mine. By that time my replacement generic 64 was worn out. Good luck.

p.s. I can't find any of the pictures to look at it anyway. I keep getting a blue 72.- Top

Re: 63 red conv.327/340 on E/Bay
I think the car is probably priced right..
After looking at the pics the spare tire carrier may be incorrect as it looks like the 64-67 style with the longer tray flange but I am not sure when the change was made to this style. The master cylinder is not correct but many 63 only parts appear to be present.
Big thing with any of these cars is bird cage and frame.. I would suggest having someone that knows 63's inspect for this. The 340 convertible is a nice car and strong runner.- Top

Ed,
Yes looks nice with a reasonable price. I'm not sure where you live but if not close I would ask for a complete inspection by a knowledgeable C2 person in the area.
I inspected a '67 convertible here in Florida last week for someone. I spent 3 1/2 hours with the car, up in the air and on the ground, took over 250 photos, with a follow-up 8 page inspection report.......plus a 3 hour round trip. (in my c6 coupe so it was more fun!)
Most importantly in my opinion, the frame condition and the birdcage on these is of major concern. I get up close and personal with these areas, crawling under the dash with my camera taking close ups of everything. Quite often the camera shots show views later that are clearer to see. If you get a car with a nice cage and frame, along with a good body, the rest is a much easier to play with.
Either way, I suggest a get-in-close inspection by either yourself or a C2 expert to help you with your decision.
Best of Luck,
Rich- Top

Re: 63 red conv.327/340 on E/Bay
That's half the fun of restoring one of these cars....the big parts hunt. Cost of "hangs on's" is subjective as I will source the best price during the hunt. Shifter...master cylinders can be found reasonable if one is patient. No rush here as the car appears ready to rock.
I agree the parts "hunt" is a fun thing.... and you can find the stuff out there. The real problem, at least in my case with my SWC is that whatever dollar figure you think it is going to cost you to get the car the way you want it..... double it! As you take things apart you always find more "stuff" which is either incorrect or which has been "Bubba-tized" by some prior amateur wrench....

Re: 63 red conv.327/340 on E/Bay
Spotted just a couple more items and how significant those are depends on whether or not you plan to have the car judged. Someone mentioned the shifter but I suspect the trans is not a T10 (didn't only late cars have Muncies,& this is in the middle of the SN range for 63)-that someone put in a Muncie (ebay listing says 'engine matching #s' but I don't think says anything about the trans). Windshield wiper arms and blades are missing & expensive and exhaust system is wrong.
The car looks good and the price is not too bad. A good driver, it will just be expensive to take it back to original stuff for judging. Good '63 stuff is just hard to find and expensive.
Good luck, JimB- Top

Re: 63 red conv.327/340 on E/Bay
Have looked at pictures now, and noticed a few other things to mention;
- it falls within the s/n to have the so called tool bins in the floor and the correct type of exhaust pipes for that, but obviously an aftermarket "non-welded" system. Also, why use steel clamps with a so called Stainless Steel system.
- missing clean air hose and manifold tube, also picture of engine number appears to show a steel fuel line instead of chrome from pump to filter (not sure of the s/n change for that).
- it is definitely a non restored car as evidenced by the condition of the underside and heavy use of flat black paint (like BBQ Black) on frame, underhood, and spare tire carrier, etc.
All in all, I'd say it is priced about right for a good driver, but reversing the paint work (clear coat) and all the other details could involve a lot of work and expense. I agree, most of the 63 parts are there and the rest can be found. It really needs to be seen in person.
