Re: 1970 big block intake seals
Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are 3 pictures that ought to be worth three thousand words.
These photos are from an NOS GM #3955528 gasket set which is an original 1969 L-88/ZL-1 gasket set. However, the end seals are identical to those used with a GM #3955526 gasket set used for 1970 LS-5 (I have some of those gasket sets too, but this one was easier to get at). Since I see you're new, I'll repeat my often-stated standard advice that none of the parts I have are for sale.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Yes, it does slightly---enough for someone to see it if they look very intently and carefully. This is one of those "trendy" features that draws a lot of judging attention. It ought to be worth about 0.01 raw points but I'm sure that, in current practice, it draws more than that.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

The 3955526 was first used for 1969 427's with oval port. It was later used for 1970 454's with oval port.
The 3955526 is NOT a "seal". It is an intake manifold gasket set which includes side gaskets (for 65-72 oval ports), end seals, and a distributor gasket. GM never sold the end seals for a big block as a separate part. They were only available as part of a complete intake gasket set. While the 65-72 side gaskets differed for different head and manifold configurations, the end seals were the same for all the sets.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
