Ok,I am a fairly new owner and everyone says the headlghts always come up on old vettes when you step on the gas too much. Is it possible to fix this? they also take forever to go down at night when i turn the headlights off. can I tune something a little to make them react a little better? thanks.

Vacuum. Not pneumatic, and yes, vacuum system repairs are common. My advice would be to purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM) and GM chassis service manual for your year.

Re: pneumatic headlights
You have a leak somewhere. Check valve may be bad. Here's a link to one. Could be many things, but these are commonly found to be defective.

Here's a good link to troubleshooting the vac system.

Here's another troubleshooting guide:
Don't make the mistake of replacing pieces at random, complete the troubleshooting first. There is more than likely multiple leaks.- Top

Re: pneumatic headlights
Hi Justin,
To use the trouble shooting guides that have been mentioned it's a good idea to have a vacuum pump with a gauge. It's really needed to test the functions of the various components the guide will indicate.
I found it to be well worth the few $ they cost. Something like a Mity-Vac will do the job.
