They say "A picture is worth a thousand words". I'll start with the letter "A".....AWESOME! Wish I could hear it run. I won't take up anymore space by going thru the entire alphabet.

My 64 had them...pretty sure they were original, because everything else was relatively unrestored under the hood. A 250 hp, 3 speed car like mine was hardly one anyone would want to add an hp decal to.

Hi Stu... Yes, I drop in occasionally to say hi and see what's new in the Corvette world. I always enjoy chatting with you.

I'll look at the pulley alignment post.

            Andy,

Is it possible that someone may have instaled new decals years ago? Reproduction 250 HP decals have been available since the mid 70's.

I may start a new thread on this topic because I have some interesting information about these 250 HP decals.

The 250 hp and 300 hp engines used from 1962-1970 (350 cid for 69-70) were among the best running, most drivable, most tractable engines ever installed in a Corvette. If one wants a Corvette for the highway, these are the ONLY way to go. Period.

Dale Pearman used to say that the best 62 for overall driving enjoyability was a 300hp car. Heard that many times from him.

                I believe it.

                  Harry,

I think you should drive it to Kissimmee in January!!! You'd get maximum mileage points.

                  Nice job, looks great! Congrats!

Michael, I would be interested in hearing more on the 250 hp engine and any detail information in particular. I don't doubt anything said here, I'd just find it hard to believe a previous owner would have added the decal to this car. Also my car had crayon markings on the cylinder heads...the number "177" which matches the number I found in the passenger side footwell when I removed the heater assembly and the rear bulkhead when I pulled the body off the frame. There was also what appears to be "RC" in crayon on the other head, which I believe is the engine code for the 250hp motor. When we took the engine apart it was very obvious it had never been apart before.

                      Andy,

There's a new post on the board titled "Part # Question for Jorjorian/Joe Lucia". It's all about the valve cover 250 horsepower decal and it's usage for 62-65. We haven't gotten to the juicy part yet so you may have to wait a bit for info on your car.
