    Joe,
Two black wires running in the depression area at the bottom of the column, not black cable, but from the directional bell.

      John,

The 63 column should have a turn signal switch at the lower end of the column by your feet and wires from the main harness should plug into the switch.

There is a green wire for the horn contact ground and a black cable that operates the T/S switch that run up the column. From the bottom, the green wire runs into a hole and up the column to the horn contact. The black cable runs outside up the column along a depression to the bell and then inside to the switching mechenism.

Again, at the bottom, I believe the excess green horn wire and it's mating wire is taped to the column with electrical tape to keep it from hanging down.. No cover I have ever seen..

        John,

I just remembered a thread regarding my 63 column and it has a few pictures of the directional switch and wiring. It may help.

Also, I found a few photos of the column from underneath. Sorry about the blurriness in some. They show the directional switch at the end of the column near the firewall, along with the horn wire connector. 63 had a long plastic covered "bowden" type wire/cable running from the mechanism in the column bell down to the switch. Let us know if that is like yours. There is no plastic cover on the column for any wires.

          Timothy and Richard,
What you describe is what I have on my car. The turn signal unit is at the base of the column and one wire, black one runs to that, the other wire I believe is the horn wire, black with green stripe, and it runs to the fresh air vent cable where it is clipped on and connected with plastic connector with a metal clip holding it to the fresh air vent cable to hold it in place.

As long as I am not supposed to have a cover to go over the wires at the depression in the column bottom the car is correct, just hope next time the judges know that a 63 does not have or need a cover!
They had me looking for the lost gold mine that did not exist!

Thanks again for all this info.
          John
