Mike - The NCRS has an excellent system is in place with Chapter Judging Chairs, National Judging Team Leaders, and a National Judging Chair. From my experience the Judging Chairs, National Team Leaders, and Natioanl Judging Chair do a good job in keeping everyone updated, but when new Judges join various Judging Teams we have an opportunity to make sure everyone is on the same page. Re: 63 horn placement

Peter, I'm sure that the system attempts to keep everyone updated. No one would deliberately allow judges to be misinformed. That being said, there clearly is still an issue with judging of 63 horns, and, it is not a new issue, so it should be addressed.

My point is that the system is not informing everyone involved. If it were informing everyone, NO judge would still be following the guidelines specified JG in regard to 63 horns. As John Hinckley so eloquently pointed out, the proper orientation is "thoroughly documented, patently obvious, and well known to everyone who owns a 63". If the system were working, today, I would definitively know where to put my horns for judging, in order that I was assured NO judge would deduct for horn configuration. As it stands, I have no clue how to avoid this deduct. As such, I am suggesting a simple, cheap method to insure all judging information is current; I am not suggesting anyone is not doing their best to inform everyone. There is room for improvement in almost any system.

Mike - Your point is well taken and my saving grace is I don't own a '63 so I don't have anything to gain in this; but topics on originality effect every year of Corvette judging and that is important to me. My problem, I guess but from that perspective, I'm "impressed" that with the knowledge and expertise the folks in our organization have that we haven't been able to address this issue and put it to rest. It appears in the picture (the man tightening the headlight and you can see the horn) that this is a 1964. The hood does not have grills. The picture next to it matches the picture in the NCRS Judging guide for a 1964. Page 130.

That picture is a 1963 Pilot Line Z06, taken in 1962. If you look close, the holes are drilled for the hood grills to be installed.

The second picture is a 1963, VIN 19XXX. It was a barn find in NH about two years ago. It's an untouched car. The owner is in our chapter.

This may reflect my ignorance of NCRS politics, but why is the current edition of the JG "cast-in-stone" until it is revised in total? If it needs to be corrected on simple individual items, wouldn't it be very simple to send all judges an email every time an error in the JG is documented, then give every judge a copy of all the emails, as well as the current JG, before he starts his examination??????
I would comment but.... when I do, my pass word stops working for a while.

Pete, it is not a "system" when two former National Judging Chairmen and countless other 3 and 4 digit membership numbers have to SCREAM loudly and then end up with a revision "Every 15 years, whether we need it or not" that creates nothing. (Trying to preserve MH's much needed access to the DB.)
