    66 V74 Question

    While finishing the interior I am at the wiring for V74 harness and the AIM calls for "twelve inches" of tape" to secure the harness to the steering column. My question, is this regular electrical tape or non-adhesive wiring harness tape adhesive?
    Thanks,

      Thanks Ronald - I used narrow electrical because I thought they would have used wiring harness tape. I can cover it with harness tape now and it should be completely invisible. The old bones don't like climbing under that dash any more than they have to especially with the steering wheel back in.

        Hello Peter;
        Wire harness wrap, not being adhesive and wider than electrical tape, has a different final result because it can equalize as it is wrapped around the wire(s).
        Just my 2 cents.

          Thanks Ray - Point taken, if I'm going to do it in harness tape anyway I can loose the electrical tape.

            Hello Peter;
            Don't know if the original harnesses were assembled by this method. Lay the wires out on a flat surface and fastening the wires together, with a single wrap, every 12-15" will keep the harness individual wires in line with each other. This also helps eliminates the uneven look after wrapping. We use clothes pins or larger pinch clamps as the loom is wrapped to keep the wires in line and pretape the joints.

            Hope this helps.
