Re: Schedule of Events at McDorman Corvette Show this week - and QUESTIONS about the
If you attend the Thursday NCRS portion of our event and wish to be part of the activates that day you must register. Which can be done at the event location. On Friday and Saturday the other portion of the event is open to the public at that point we have no control of who enters the grounds. But if you wish to participate on the 3 days of our event. Starting on Thursday you need to register. With your registration you can take all the photos you would like with the car owners permission attend all the other functions Judging schools, Seminars, Observer judging and all of Mr. McDorman's events that are listed.
It is still my understanding the schedule of events has not changed. I will be leaving for Columbus in the next 1/2 hour to begin the setup of our event. When I speak with John Ballard today if there any changes I will list them here later today.
Hope to see you there.

I found the registration form on page 111 of the most recent Driveline. It looks like it's $45 to register, plus $30 late fee (after August 1st). If a friend or non-immediate family member who is not an NCRS member wants go or meet me there, it would be an additional $35.
My car is completely disassembled at the moment, so none of the judging or PV would apply (I'm working on it!). What I am trying to accomplish at this particular point in the restoration is to find a few needed parts (the swap-meet) and learn as much as I can from being able to look at correctly restored (or survivor) 1967 Corvettes with the L79 engine, hopefully some examples with C60.
It would be very helpful to get reference pictures of Corvette engine bays, suspensions, examples of typical factory overspray, where blackout is applied (and how much), wheel well undercoatings, etc., etc. All of the details that will be important to know for proper reassembly and detailing.
Would I have the opportunity to take close-up pictures of cars that have been restored for NCRS judging (or survivor cars) at the McDorman show, or is this not the proper venue for that kind of thing?- Top

Scott, not second guessing my friend Terry, but I think what he meant was that the public may be able to see the Advanced Judging Seminar taking place. But it's only open to NCRS members registered for the event to participate in. Look me up and as Terry said, I'll be glad to share knowledge with you. Hope to see ya there. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

Re: Schedule of Events at McDorman Corvette Show this week - and QUESTIONS about the
That helps explain some things, I didn't know if the NCRS always had events planned in conjunction with the McDorman Corvette show, or whether this was something new.
As to learning the basics of judging: When you get to this event sign up for the Advanced Judging Seminar on either Friday or Saturday. Say hi and remind me to cover some of the basics for the group. Count on spending all day with this. I guarantee you will have fun.
The schedule shows that Advanced Judging School is from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday. Is the same subject matter covered both days, or is it like "Part 1" and "Part 2" where the second day picks up where the first day left off?
Is there a course outline available?
Thanks!- Top

I'm sure I would enjoy it. If you don't think this would be too advanced for someone with my degree of inexperience, this might be exactly the kind of thing that would really help me to get a better understanding about how these cars are supposed to be.

Ordinarily the AJS does not spend much time on the basics, but I will make a point of it this time -- it is a good thing for me to do every once in a while if for no other reason than to keep me on my toes. The old farts can stand to hear the gospel again anyway.
There is no agenda or curriculum for the AJS. That is why we call it a Seminar -- in spite of what you see in the meet schedule. We have a hard time getting everyone on board with the Seminar idea, but we are working on it. Each day will be different because as much as we can within the limits of the available cars, we use different cars each day and since the people for the most part are different each day the questions will be different. It is not exactly like a school in that there is no fixed curriculum. The learning experience will be dynamic and so each day will stand on its own.
I would suggest you try to Observer Judge one of the days. There is sometimes an Observer Judge's meeting in the morning as judging starts, or simply talk to the National Team Leader for the class you are most interested in. The NTL or his designate will be listed on the list of judges at the registration desk. If you don't see them with a crowd around them, ask one of the meet officials where they are or to point out the National Team Leader of the class you chose. Tell him you want to OJ and ask what he wants you to do.
Two days of the AJS is likely to give you a headache -- If you get there on Thursday there is a Judging School (generally one hour or so) Thursday afternoon. Roy Sinor often leads that school and you might find it interesting if it fits your schedule. You will get an updated agenda when you register and the location of all these activities should be listed on that.Terry- Top

Re: Schedule of Events at McDorman Corvette Show this week - and QUESTIONS about the
To all we marked all the buildings that will be used for judging today. We have 5 buildings 4 will hold 16 judged cars each and 1 will be for 6 cars. Also Terry's AJS will be in Mcdorman's main building in the body shop. There is also a 6th building Bob's Corvette show room is where the welcome reception, judges breakfast, and lunch will be held. Plus the awards banquet on Saturday evening. In front of the building is were the Bowtie and other display cars will be parked under a covered roof.
Scott if you come on Thursday please come and find me so we can talk I will be parking cars in the buildings. We are here to help all member have a great weekend and learn what we do. Also Scott next year there will not be a Regional NCRS event at Mcdorman's. On Thursday come and see me about getting the information and photos you need. Hope that helps

Paul, I hope you have considered AJS access to the Bowtie display cars in the parking lay out. I do know how large Bob's facility is and I would hate to lose control of my seminars two meets in a row.Terry- Top

Re: Schedule of Events at McDorman Corvette Show this week - and QUESTIONS about the
Terry the display car are about 500ft away from where your AJS will be. Your lift will be at the far end of the body shop. There are 2 access doors to the shop 1 will be assigned to you for the your school and the lift. Your meeting area can be the Corvette building where the meals will be served and then you will have the display cars out side the buildings windows. But after you see the setup, we have 2 other locations that may work for you. I will be your call.

That would be a great help, but I'm not sure I can make it to Columbus tomorrow. It's looking like I will only be able to make it on Friday or Saturday, but not both. I was hoping to spend one day scouring the swap-meet, and the other day at the Advanced Judging School, but if I can only do one, I can't miss the chance to attend Terry's day-long seminar.
I should know my schedule for sure either late tonight or tomorrow morning.
Thank you,
Scott- Top
