Ebay: seller won't sell car after winning it!

Wondering how hard I should push this or leave it alone. Hope someone out there has gone through this and has advice. I bid on and won a 56 vette on ebay a few days ago. It was a no reserve auction with a buy it now price. Starting bid was stout, $50k, not a $1. Seller will not sell the vette to me eventhough I won it, stating he forgot to put a reserve in the auction. I do want the car, anyway to force him to sell? Would an attorney help or am I just out of luck? I know I can leave negative feedback, but that just does not cut it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd say fighting it is a losing battle. Bet you'll need to find another one. Bummer. Been there too !

Seller remorse. Much too complicated. If he's like this now. Can't imagine what the future could hold. There's Always another car. Especially in this mkt.

Check "project Cars" for the 56 on there.

Even though you are legally "in the right", do you want to hire an attorney at $500 an hour to prove your point? The seller is a turd. There are lots of cars for sale, move on.

I would look for another car. It is not worth the headaches that you will encounter.

I would get in contact with eBay. Things are a lot more formal where cars and real estate are concerned. I think you do have more than a leg to stand on.

Not having had an eBay experience like you describe, I guess the advice to move on is worth taking. However, before you do that, I know from other eBay experience that you can report the seller to eBay and what transpired with your attempt to "Buy it Now." You may or may not get the car, I don't know, but my guess is the seller will be banned from selling again on eBay. Ebay is very good about protecting it's name and the people who buy and sell using the site. Follow the links on eBay to register a complaint.

And the seller will be up and running with a new ID within 1 hour. E-Bay and PayPal protect the seller, NOT the buyer.

I would definitely contact eBay via the resolution process they provide. If nothing else it is an easy way to provide the "seller" with some grief. Also make sure you provide negative feedback!

                      Bill,

It's a waste of time. See post #9. Been there, done that.

I guess as both a buyer and seller I'd respectfully have to disagree. It's not perfect, but ebay is very willing to hassle a seller.

PayPal favors the buyer. I refuse to take PayPal on large items due to their charge back policy and fees. I either take the customers credit card or a wire transfer. NO PAYPAL. I pay 1.56% for credit card processing while PayPal is about twice that.

My bank charges me a lot more than 1.56 DW. How do you rate???
I love paypal and feel quite secure using it. Exception to the rule is that they will not stand behind the quality of an item but will insure that you receive it.
Hey DW. Do you take paypal???

I will take PayPal as a small securtiy deposit on a vehicle, but for something with a title it is wire transfer!

You need to shop ChePhart, if you are paying over 2%. There are many processors that are way under that number. Best rates I have ever heard of are in the .65% range, but you and I do not do a billion or so every month.
