    Small block AC car made into a BB. AC cars had the battery on the left as did the BB's however AC was not available on BB's. This looks to have factory air.

    The water temp gauge is incorrect and I do not see the gussets on the front of the 962 block which suggests to me that it is of 1966+ vintage.

    Counterfeit in my opinion...

      The A/C is obviously a Vintage Air add-on, not factory, A/C not listed on window sticker. The window sticker doesn't show the order # at the top right, if it is there, probably a repop. No TI, and the pic of the engine pad is unreadable, accident of bad photo work??? That trim tag looks way too shiny and new, and the stamping looks suspicious, caveat emptor.

        Mike;

        What's the giveaway on the vintage AC? I agree on the trim tag, looks brandy new.. Also what is strange is that there are no underside pictures and the only picture of the chassis does not show the rear.

          The compressor is shiny aluminum, and small. I can't read the tags but it is obviously a new, high efficiency compressor like Vintage Air and Antique Air sell with their systems for R134. The old original style compressor is a big, black, Harrison unit shown here in a '67, '65 was identical:

          Also, I would doubt they would claim anything original about the A/C, also no vent in the center of the dash below the radio speaker grill. You would have much work to do to verify this is a real deal 396 black on red, and you might never be for sure.

                  From what the seller has shown, Run Forrest, Run!It might be a legit car, but the photos have not done the car any favors

                    Forgetting all else for a minute. Aren't the pop rivets on the trim tag incorrect?

                      Dave to answer your question, NO, but the rosette type on the vin tag ARE very incorrect. Still a great deal for the money, if it wasnt for vin rivets (thank god) I would be more than interested, makes a nice driver, not everyone is an NCRS #s person, Phil 8063

                        But for the same money you can get a car with "some" if not all documentation.

                          What is the problem with the rosette rivets attaching the VIN tag?

                            Rosettes were not used on early production '65 cars. The AIM shows 11-9-64 as the change date for the AIM, but the actual date the Plant implemented the change was much later than that.

                              I agree Bill. This is where I went wrong on the rivets. 396 cars aren't early. So I would expect rosette rivets. I'm not saying this is a legit L78. In the the information near the top of the auction page the VIN is given as 194375S119741. So late car with big block I'm expecting it to have rosettes. After reading the VIN 194375S119741 I didn't perform due diligence and check the vin in the photo which is 194375S110741 which would have round rivets.

                              So there appears to be a multitude of sins and the plot thickens.
