        Richard,

The original ones were a almost clear heavy gauge plastic held in place with dum dum.

The Mid America one looks good, I too am interested.

The paragon and CC black thermal ones will not pass judging.

        Ken

I just cut one from clear Vizqueen to match the door panel/door.
It looks like factory and passed judging 3 times.

          ls ALOT cheaper too~

                  Hi Richard,
The original vapor barriers were vacuum formed and quite intricately cut. The shape detail is great enough that there are left and rights. You just can't reverse a left, for example, to use as a right.
I believe all the reproductions are just flat material. Since you can just really see the edge of them, they may or may not 'measure-up' to judging.
I'm not aware of anyone making an accurate reproduction.
The dum-dum was in a thin bead that ran around the entire perimeter of the door and had a string embedded in it.
I continue to look for a passengers side shield, but VERY rarely see them offered.
Here's a couple of pictures of a driver's side shield from my 71.
                  Regards,
                  Alan

                    Re: Vapor Barriers

Please note the milk colored tint to the material in the above photos. That is NOT clear -- unless your eyesight is a lot worse than mine. If I were judging interior, and I almost always do not, I would make a deduction for clear vapor barrier.

And if you can hide it behind the door panels, especially the poor fitting reproductions, more power to you.

All of the commercially available "Visqueen" that I have seen has the "milky white" appearance. I have never seen any that I would call "clear".

It must be a different material out west. Maybe they use corn in ours here in the Midwest.
