    70 Splash Shields?

How many metal Splash Shields should a 1970 have?

I know there are (2) small triangular shaped ones (R.H. & L.H. outers) which incorporate a rubber seal stapled on the sides, and I'm aware of the (2) large square ones located under the floor pans.

    A total of (4) shields.

    Am I missing any ????

    Thank you,
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,
I can only think of the 4 you mentioned.
Would you consider the baffle below and behind the core support a splash shield? That would make 5, but that one might not ever be called a 'spash shield'.
    Regards,
    Alan

Think this is what Alan's referring to.(lower baffle) Don't know how many 70's might still have it, or had it to begin with.

        Hi Dennis,
        Yes, that's it.
Not too many people remember it, or cars still have it, as you say. There sure are some fancy bends and cuts in it!
Did it only appear with the metal shroud?
        Regards,
        Alan

          Re: 70 Splash Shields?

Ralph my original owner 1970 has only the splash shields you have mentioned. I have air conditioning which has the large radiator, not metal fan shroud like the one Dennis pictured. My 70 has a much larger composite fan shroud. My original owner 68 without air conditioning and smaller radiator has what Dennis has pictured.

            Alan...
If I remember without looking,(that might be dangerous), the shroud mounting tabs pass through the lower baffle.

            Jim ....
I should have mentioned the metal setup appears on the base engine, no A/C, alum radiator. (well at least I haven't heard otherwise). Assume you have a '109 plastic shroud

I don't recall what numbers are on it, it is a two piece shroud with the lower single piece retained by small bolts.

Dennis when I posted earlier my 70 was parked at work. Just looked at it in the garage and it is the 109 you have pictured. A driven car sure heats up the garage when the door is left down.
