Looking for help in identifying a 3 speed manual trans. I have. The numbers are as follows, 3731911 GM, H289 737 450, Q59. The tranny is in perfect condition, I just don't know what its for.

3731911 is the casting number for the side cover for a 1957-1963 cast iron Saginaw 3-speed transmission. Do you have the casting numbers for the main case and tailhousing? Got any photos? Does it look like the photo below?

Tail housing is probably 3737450 (check the "737 450") and the H289 is probably a date code (Aug 28, 1959).

Check the upper right rear face of the main case for stamped build info.

Rod, that tail housing cast number is "8737450" not "3737450" as originally thought. Sorry about the misinformation.All other numbers are as reported and are all the numbers on the trans.
