You are going to make us wait two months???

    How about a hint.........

p.s. I thought the star of the event was the Black 55. Gorgeous.

However, the car that really knocked my socks off was Irwin's '57 Airbox. Every time I think about it or see the pictures I took I get goosebumps all over and start shivering. What a car!

I did a photo shoot of the car for The Restorer at the last Marlboro Regional and now await the story from the owner.
Always wondered what happened to Curt and his car.
FYI I believe that he wrote some articles on it for the Restorer many years ago.

My vote is for the 1972 Classic White ZR1, with 300 miles on the odometer. Thanks Al, for bringing it out for the shark fans to admire.

Are there any links to photos of this car for those of us who did not see it. Sounds amazing. Thank you.

So many beautiful cars. Thanks to all the owners for letting us drool on them. In as much as there are many number one contenders, my vote is the 72 ZR1. Awesome vehicle, mind blowing, and a car that floats the leaf up the stream and turns back the hands of time. I get the feeling that the owner would like nothing more than to give us all a vivid demonstration of the term "drive it like you stole it."

It was an honor to lean on the fender...

              Mark,
I share your comments fully. That was one "SWEET PIECE". Best part was almost everyone there would walk by such a plain car. White exterior, blackwall tires etc. It was a pleasure to lean on the sill plate on Bowtie Day and be 2 cars down from him on the judging field. It definately sets the bar for C3 cars. I hope many more Corvette enthuiasts get to see it in the years to come.

I spoke with Al for a while about his car. He also brought the Blue 54. He said the '72 was previously owned by 2 brothers, and they kept it in their "Living Room"! They took it out for a ride around the block every once in a while as I recall. He bought it with 302 miles. He said there are 306 miles on in now.......at least before he moved it around after the Charlotte event!

Truly awesome car. The real deal time capsule.

                p.s.
With regret I must tell you how I got to speak with him. As I was taking shots with the camera walking around, buddy Chuck and I were walking by the car admiring it. He was quite frustrated, removing his valve stem caps from the car, along with other loose items like gas cap, etc. He discovered earlier that morning or overnight, that his '54 was "violated".

The wiper knob from his '54 was gone! It was taken either during the morning or somehow overnight.

No matter where we go there always seems to be some Loser around. Shameful.

Greg, here are the photos from my photobucket page with about 350 pics I took when I was there. The 72 was closed up and I didn't get any other shots.

There's a "Sticky" thread which has the links to 3 groups of photos at the top header of the TDB here.

Dave, Too bad I didn't hook up with you Bowtie day to OJ with you and Jim. I would have loved to see it up close and personal. It's not too often I get to see great cars like that.

p.s. thanks for the great info you and Jim taught me about the C3's Saturday. I'm very glad you gave me the opportunity to work with you guys as your OJ.

                      Greg,
Al did his PV in Florida in January 2010. I posted a few shots of the car at that time, and some others also posted pictures of the chassis. Those in my Advanced Judging Seminars in Florida and at Concord got to spend some quality time with that car. That is what makes the trip to these meets worth while.

FWIW: He bought it with 290 miles on it and crossed the 300 mark during the PV.

I never got to see it since it was covered up most of the time.

                        Too bad.

Why the hell do we bring these cars to events if not for other people to enjoy them.

The rules say that the car must be left on the "show field" until class is dismissed.

It should also state somewhere that the car must be visible to spectators. Maybe next time "AL" will cover the car with Saran Wrap.

With no disrespect to the OP and to those who have replied to this thread, but is this question appropriate for the TDB? The NCRS has set up judging against a standard not each other. With one sentence haven't you created competition between the cars/owners? The 55,57 and the 72 were very nice examples but every car entered means a lot to each of the owners. IMHO
