Re: 1965 N11 off-road question
Jack, do you have phone# or web site for allen exhaust? Assume their systems are not aluminized & do they have the GM raised lettering on the mufflers (which I think the originals had)? I had an original set on a 66 425; they sounded great. Now have a C Central set on 67 coupe. They sound good but I know won't pass judging w/o significant deduction.- Top

Re: 1965 N11 off-road question
All....when I ordered by off road exhaust chose Allens. Bad call on my part. Poor fit and finish. Ordered through Mike Allen. When informed of the trouble I was having installing their system on my '66 BB car all I got (I felt) was the run around. Even indicating there was something wrong with the way my engine sits in the frame. Excuse after excuse. Never was it indicated or suggested that maybe it was their issue at the manufacturing end. Never offered to take back or swap. Wouldn't or won't use their products again.- Top

Re: 1965 N11 off-road question
Ralph, I would say the sound is 50% between standard and the sound from side pipes. Think you can google Allen exhaust and get #. If not I well go through my files and get # in AM. I could use a set of side pipes for another car. If you know of some originals. Jack- Top

Re: 1965 N11 off-road question
Ralph, if your term "pass judging" means a zero points deduction, you wont find a reproduction system that fits the bill. In my opinion you have two options for an off road system that will fair reasonably well in judging, Corvette Central and Gardners. Gardners would be my first choice but be prepared for a higher price than the CC system. Tom- Top

Re: 1965 N11 off-road question
Ralph,
The '65 off road system is only an original factory option with 2 1/2" system. So if you have a base engine (2" system) then the off road mufflers is NG for any type of NCRS judging.
I'm not sure, but I think the 2" system was also used with the small block and automatic transmission in '65.- Top
