    1970 tire tub

Just found a very nice tire tub from a 1970 and it has a rockwell products sticker on the side showing from the rear, is this a normal part ? I have a feeling it could be a replacement, or did this come stock with the manufacturers sticker? Thanks Ed

Ed the label is found on many tubs and body panels. It should have 2 sets of numbers like 26-70. That would indicate 26th week 1970. Hope that helps.

mine was still attached after 33 years, I should have put some clear protective coating on it, shortly after this picture was taken in 2005 and I started driving the car, the sticker was lost.

          Interesting thread. Thanks!

I took my ('72) tub apart last year to restore it and found the Rockwell decal under the steel frame. Placement was so straight it looked like it was planned that way . Does anyone know for sure that the decal was placed before the tub was riveted to the frame?

I'm sure that it was. The labels were applied at the Rockwell plant where the tub was manufactured. I believe the steel support was attached at St. Louis.

              Hi Edward,
I believe that that lable is actually part of the molded part and not a 'decal'. For example, you can see it but you can't feel it, or it's edge, with your finger.
I also found those lables under the front fender panels and on the underbody. The ones I found under the front fenders were high up where there was no black-out or sound deadening. As I cleaned the road grime off, the lables appeared as new.
              Regards,
              Alan

I agree with Alan. All of the ones I have seen have been UNDER the surface. But, my lack of ever seeing one ON the surface may just have been explained by the post above.
