That's great Mike. Thanks for sharing the story of the nickname.....LOL.
His accomplishments?......I've heard that over the years too. That he did a great job.

The Judging points system was his program. The Bowtie program started on Dipstick's watch.

...great and informative stories. Ah the good 'ole days. You guys must've had a real blast in those times. I was just a rookie NCRS guy reading your stuff in the Restorer in the 80's, raising 3 young boys(argh!) and couldn't desert the wife. I used to wish then that someday I could have more time to enjoy it all more and go to more events. Well now it's time!

My buddy Chuck McSheehy's '65 fuelie coupe just got "in" from being waitlisted, and I'm going along with him to shotgun in the motorhome to my 2nd ever "full attendance" National. I'm really looking forward to meet up with Dennis again(we conversed briefly at the 08 FL Regional), and the rest of you that are going. All you guys back in the 80's are the reason I stuck with the program then......thanks.

Hope to meet many of you face-to-face at the event.

Seems there were some, shall we say, a large engine and some "giggle gas" used in that event and a couple after that
I remember the Drag event after the Lancaster National in 1989-90? Where there were a couple of "interesting" Vette challenges.

i was sitting in the grandstand at maple grove dragstrip(site of the lancaster nationals in 88 )when kevin mackay, in the not quite finished 67 coupe, the Bounty Hunter, got out of control and kevin t-boned the jersy barrier. i also recall zora making a pass in the ex-george winterstein 67 l-88. too bad most ncrs members are reluctant to participate in racing events. mike

Also there was blown transmission by Chris Bondy of Windsor. Ont. .
It sure is nice to see members 'drive' their Vettes. Chris also received a 'Top Flight', if I remember correctly, with that car.

              Oh the 'good old days'.

Well....the Dipstick just checked in...he's a little discombulated today...must have been a tough drive from Newton...but he's in Mason, OH...never saw the signs for I70E when he went thru/around Indianapolis...so headed further south...very close to NCRS headquarters in Cincinnati...he's only 365 miles from the farm...and hopes to get back on track tomorrow...he promised that he'll be calling me every hour tomorrow to get the correct route...(guess he doesn't trust the GPS)...I look forward to having "just one" with him Thursday evening...Nomad wagon is running just fine....

Vinnie, please remind Mr. Dipstick that GPS maps need to be updated at least once a year. Knowing Mr. Dipstick as we all do, his GPS is probably an antique. Sounds like he's had a good trip so far. Food for the farm sounds wonderful. Vinnie you've out done yourself. See y'al shortly. Gary....

Not a bad drive from Cincy to the farm. He can go to Columbus, about 80-90 miles and pickup I-70 again, about 7 hours or so from Cincy. I guess the old phart can drive that far in one day

It is not too hard to get discombobulated around Indy. As me how I know.

Today Mr. Dipstick and Mr. Garmin almost came to blows because driver likes to hear 'left or right' and GPS talks about 'Northeast or Southeast' and insists you travel through Chicago. It's all downhill to the farm tomorrow where there will be some serious R & R.

                                Hi Guys...

Just finished reading the comments using The Maryland Misfire's cornputer in his shop. Enjoyed doing so.

Some of my language in telling Garmin just what I thought of her is not suitable for this venue. I'm sure she was listening to every word.

Mikie saved me from trying to turn South 2 states too soon. And, Vinnie was willing to listen to me vent most days.

Looking forward to The Farm party and the Convention.

Hope to make it to "Last night Out"

                                Best Regards, Dipstick
