Met him back when he was in chrome plating, he fashioned my first rechromed 56 taillights. A wonderful man and will be missed by many. RIP Dale.

        Tom Parsons,

That is a great PIC!!!...thanx for posting it. I understand Bill and Dale were good buddies and I believe RE is currently owned by the Cleary's and is in good hands.

I hope Dale's good work at OEM will continue which will be one, of many, legacies for him.

This is Dale as I will remember him. He loved his red tractors. Here is a link to the tractor parts business.

            Sad to hear this news.
Dale was a very good friend of mine and I'm sure a very good friend to many of the people on this board.
I first meet Dale in the mid seventies when he was selling Fords,he then started OEM plating, followed by OEM Glass and his latest adventure was OEM Tractor Parts.
During the 80s he held a party at his shop that was a highlight of each Bloomington show.
Many on this board remember them well, with "The Party" being being large enough to be called a show in itself.
He was a good businessman and great familyman that I'll never forget.
God bless you Dale, Bob Jorjorian

I remember Dale from the Sun Plating days, then the glass business, Bloomington Parties, and more, one of the true Gentlemen in the Hobby. Dale will be sadly missed!

One thing that comes to mind about Dale Smith is this. No matter what he did in our hobby and other ventures he did it to the best of his ability. An honest hardworking individual with a first class reputation.
Sorry to say I didn't know him very well. Saw him at BG and CC for many years. Heard a lot about him.
A funny story that Jorjorian told me about Dale was that Dale used to provide OEM W/S boxes for his pals to sleep in at Carlisle.
Remember hearing from the gang here that if you wanted a really good repro windshield Dale was your man.
Dropping like flies around here. Let's cut it out. Rip in peace Dale, JD

I didn't know Dale, but I talked with him on the phone several years ago (mid '90s). I was looking for a hardtop for my '57. He said he had one in very good condition, black with a red headliner. He wanted $1000 for it and I passed on it not knowing what they were worth at the time. How I wish I would have purchased it. I'm sure it was just as he had described it.
