Gasket between Hose and Fuelpump on C1?

    Hi
I have this little problem that Gas is "dripping" from the 45 degree Flex Gas line Fitting/flex Gas Line where they are connectet before the Fuel Pump and I have tryed to put on such "tape" but it's only good for one day. Should the Hose and fitting mounted together without any form for Gasket?

    Regards Jorn/Denmark

You are correct, they just screw together. It sounds like the end has a nick in it, or the seat is bad. They are not that exspensive, I would just buy new ones. If you are set on using what you have, go to a store that handles Loc-Tite products. They make a sealer that will solve your problem, don't remember the number and I'm on vacation so I can't go to thegarage and look.

Jorn, try some aircraft/aviation type sealant such as "fuel lube". Here's a U.S. product. Gary....

Jorn, These are brass pipe thread fittings. I have learned over the years to "Not" use teflon tape on them. It is not recommended. It can allow too much "slip", reducing friction and can cause a crack in the fitting if overtightened, especially if into aluminum castings.

By design, pipe thread fittings typically do not need a sealer. Tighten them up and you should be ok. If you must, you can use a product like Gary shows, or just good old fashioned pipe thread compound typically used for natural gas pipe. I use that and it always seems to work for older fittings I reuse. I use the sealant is insurance.
