Joe, I just measured it again. This time I laid it upside down on a table and used a ruler to measure from the top edge of the table to the top of the radius and it measures 2 3/8 + 1/16. the edges of the pan are bent slightly up and this may account for the 1/16 variance; I'll bend them back flat and it will probably come in at 2 3/8. You simply ask for a gasket set for a 1975-79 Chevrolet small block. The only difference between the 1957-74 and 75-79 small block gaskets is the thickness of the front seal.

Or, you can ask for the equivalent of the GM #14079399 gasket set.

To add to the power vs. manual consideration is; whether your's is set up for the quick ratio steering. My 63 has that with manual steering and it is like driving the perverbial Mack Truck. I've made mine a little more "female friendly" with radial tires and a change from Sintered Metallic brakes to Matrix Ceramic.

I have about 500 good miles on the Matrix Ceramics and they continue to improve as they run in more. The low speed/cold braking is greatly improved over the metallics, and the high speed/hot braking seems to be on par with no discernible fade. Of course, I'm not exactly hot lapping them, but have had a number of occasions where I really needed to climb on them (intersections with cameras, etc.). I'm using a sleeved dated MC for esthetics, but feel I could find some improvement still with better hydraulics. The wheel cylinders I bought with the linings are spect as HD, whatever that means, so I don't really know what my hydraulic ratio (MC to WC) is anymore. All in all, I find them to be a great improvement for street driving. I have a lot more confidence in them, specially in traffic.
