Re: C1 1957 park light housing
These of mine must be over the counter service replacements then. Obviously they didn't come with the wiring. I would imagine that as Roy explains originals were likely yellow cad.
However, I wonder if it really matters. In the wheelhouse blackout process wouldn't they get painted, then have undercoating applied?

Nope - the undercoat and wheelhouse blackout operations were done in the Paint Shop after the Final Bake oven, long before the parking lights were installed on the Hard Trim Line.- Top

So by comparison, later years, like my 59, undercoating was applied after the headlight buckets were installed right? Mine had undercoating on the buckets.
Same for the 57? .....undercoating on the buckets?

Re: C1 1957 park light housing
Not sure. I have some old St. Louis Paint Shop process notes that indicate two different processes starting in '58; one says tape was applied over the top fender molding holes prior to undercoat to keep it from blowing through the molding holes, and the other one says the application was moved to after the top molding was installed (or the molding was installed in the Paint Shop prior to undercoating).
Examining a known-original/untouched car would help answer those questions.- Top

Re: C1 1957 park light housing
I have attached pics of NOS set ( still in black/yellow Delco box). They are dichromate (yellow colored CAD -- is that the right term?). Wiring harness sheath is rubber. I have had these since about 1981. Hope this helps. (I am struggling with getting these uploaded --if they did not attach I'll try again later).

Re: C1 1957 park light housing
Hi Guy's
I agree with John Hinckley and the other replies regarding the zinc chromate coating and rubber wire housing. My NOS lights purchased in the late 60's to be installed in 56 no. 10 are finished as described. Also the originals which came out of the car were never coated with undercoating. Hope this helps Dan.
