Loose Mirror Base

Morning Guys,
The outside mirror is loose at the base on my 68 . I searched for a while but the threads are usually on the ball part. I tightened up the nut (gently) but the base still wobbles. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jeff

My 66 did the same. Simple fix. Take off and put a little more gasket (Thicker) make your own if need, under base. The mirror shakes because you can't tighten it down any more then the thin gasket (old) that helps the base stand off of body.

Once you have a little more stand off, the hex nut can be tighten and will keep mirror steady.
