    1967 427/435 engine stamp

I am posting a picture of my 67 427/435 engine pad in hopes that someone has the same assembly date TO223JE so i can compare as i am curious about the two different 2's used on mine...any pictures would be helpfull.
    Thanks...

Rich, I know when the stamping was done and the are 2 or 3 of a same number that they generally use a different font for those numbers alike. My 72 suffix code has two zeros and they are different, but if you look in the archives there are many pic.s of stamps and there differences. the 2,s may or maynot be there, there are some interesting posts as of recently. your pad looks very good .

Rich...it is always interesting when someone is brave enough to put their engine stamp on here for all the "experts" to comment on. Found these in my files. I think at least one is original...maybe both. I'll be the first to say I like yours real well. Not uncommon to have two numbers used in a stamp that are of a different shape. Probably more authentic looking when that does happen. My 2 cents worth.

Borrowed this pic from another site today. Tonowanda ran out of 'T'" stamps and was using "F's".....Fonawanda ?....Flintawonda ?

Nice! Looks like the rare Fonawanda stamp...

Richard - Here's a couple pictures of the stamp pad from my 435 coupe, which rolled off the assembly line just 27 cars before yours did! The Tonawanda assembly code is one day earlier than yours, but if you compare the 2s to your pad the characters look identical.
There is an interesting anomaly in the serial number stamping for my car. The "2" is an overstrike on top of a "5". I've owned this car for almost 20 years and was always puzzled by this. I asked Al Grenning about this a few years back and he said there was a small batch of cars starting around serial number 12400 that had this correction.
Can you see any evidence that the "2" in your serial stamping may have been an overstrike? I'm not trying in any way to cast doubts on the originality of your block (it looks good to me!)--just curious about how long this error went on before it was caught and corrected. Regards, Dave

                  Richard,
Why do the broach marks above the vin number not extend all the way down the pad towards the water pump?

Thanks Dave! The 2 is not a overstrike on mine....
Gene the broach marks are visable to the waterpump if you blow the pic up.Also it depends on the picture as i have some that show the broach marks better than others..........

Richard - I'd really appreciate a copy of that photo. I have a pic of the pad from sn 12407. Not a great photo, but it clearly shows where someone took a ball peen hammer or punch to try to flatten the 5, then wacked a 2 right on top.

My guess is the guy grabed a 5 stamp. A upside down 5 looks like a 2.
