Thought I'd share this with you in hope it helps. Had lots of suggestions about my hard hot starting problem on my '67 L-79:flooding, too much advance, bad gas,etc., but was none of above was the problem. With lots of free help by phone from Chuck Hawk( Chuck Hawk's Auto and Performance, Tuscon, AZ.(520)292-0880, and some from Pertronix, decided wasn't getting enough spark to ignite mixture when cranking hot. Sure enough, only 4 V on hot side of coil on cranking. Traced problem to a bad solenoid. With new solenoid get 12V when you turn key and starts right up.

Very interesting. This is an often overlooked, but critical area. Not certain if the Pertronix system makes this worse than with points......but 4 volts to the coil is definitely too low.
