The judge does what he / she feels is correct. Changing the book is a pains-taking process which we do very well. Don H.

Long Island has the clip for $1. I haven't heard anyone complain that they were deducted a point for HAVING the clip by mistake, so I'll add the clip and call her good and just move on.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Yes, that's the way our system works...

First, read the Judging Reference Manual and you'll find the Judging Guide books are just that--'Guides'. We rely on the personal knowledge of those who judge to make the final call(s). They can set aside any/all of the guidelines set forth in the Judging Guide, but their calls ARE subject to an appeal process which owners have the right to invoke.

Second, we're the only factory concours Corvette judging organization with published books! But, our system is one of volunteer labor and I can guarantee you that on any given day there WILL be errors of both omission and commission on the judging field.

Third, the powers granted judges can work both ways. There ARE errors in our publications and I've had judges over rule incorrect text printed in the Judging Guide when it was apparent that the text was wrong. So, the system is akin to a double edged sword (can work for you as well as against you).

But, at the bottom line, errors like these (clip vs. no clip) are MINOR when it comes to the overall scoring outcome of a given car on our 4500 point scale.
