    1970 open air cleaner base

Can someone please post photos of both sides of the original open air element air cleaner base? Were there any differences between the small block and big block versions such as the tube location?

    Thanks,

The bases were the same for base engine, L-46, and LS-5.

Thanks, Joe. I purchased an original open air cleaner base at a swap meet recently. I compared it to Paragon's base #2091 and the vent tube configuration appears different than mine. I believe that Camaro Z-28s had these, too. That's why I needed photographs for comparisons, if any.

Z-28 Camaros (as well as LT-1 Corvettes) used a different base. That's partially because they used a "high rise" manifold. Big blocks with a "high rise" manifold used the different base, too.

              Scott,

I have a 70 LT1 air cleaner and your base looks just like it best I can tell.

Thanks. I began to think the same after researching LS-5 and LT-1 air cleaner base photos. I picked up the original base and lid out of a box full of bases and lids at a swap meet for $20 hoping it was an original LS-5 base.
