1962 gas tank ?

Probably 1/8 pipe thread.

Bruce, Fortunately I have my 62 on the lift for some Early Spring maint & cleaning. Wayne is correct, it is 1/8" pipe thread. Drain plug also has a 7/16" hex head.

is the mfg logo FC or L ? is it a recessed hex head pipe plug? mike

Mike, It has the 7/16" recessed head with no Mfr letters, (just plain). I have seen the FC & L markings on the 1/4" hex head pipe plugs used in the engine block drains. Hope that helps. Barry Holmes

I have four tanks here that I had replaced and the one that I done reciently out of a one owner 62 has the plug that is pictured with the L. Another tank from a 62 that the current owner has owned since mid 70s had a plug with smooth head no recess. A plug from the tank of my 58 which I have owned since 67 has the L on it. The other tank from the 60 the plug was missing. All of the plugs are 1/8 pipe thread with a 7/16 head. Hope this helps Joe.

I checked the head marking on the gas tank drain on my 62 #5818 and it is marked "L".
See picture below.
