A zero feedback seller who only registered with Fleabay on April 30th of this year.
$11,000,.......yeah, right.
The bid retractions were from savy buyers who caught on to the scam.Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .- Top

Re: $11,000.00 1960 eVil bay bargoon or .......?
The bids were cancelled by the seller and not the bidders. Notice that they were all cancelled at the same time, and right before the close of the auction. Doesn't make sense to cancel the high bids and accept a much lower bid. So either the listing was not legit, or perhaps the seller didn't think the $34K was enough and was trying to cancel all the bids and ran out of time. Either way, he isn't going to let it go for $11K.- Top

Fleabay policy:
Canceling bids
- A bidder contacts you to back out of the bid.
- You cannot verify the identity of the bidder after trying all reasonable means of contact.
- You end your listing early.
as already stated, something is wrong.....Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .- Top

Re: $11,000.00 1960 eVil bay bargoon or .......?
While there are many possibilities, my guess is the car sold for a negotiated price to the $11,100 bidder. If you look the bids were not all cancelled at once, but over the course of three days. This looks to me to be an inexperienced ebayer, who doesn't know the way around. With ebays newer list a car for free policy, why not cancel all the bids and save $120 (final value on a vehicle that sells). It appears as though maybe someone made contact and offered a fair price which was accepted and seller thought they would get caught screwing ebay (heaven forbid) if they did not give them their due. Ebay policy means nothing as long as they get their money.
just a guess,

Sorry,
There should always be a reserve price for anything as valuable as a 1960 Corvette. I do not know what went wrong with this transaction. This sounds fishy!! In this day and age is hard to believe that an owner of a beautiful 1960 Corvette would not know to ask more for and put a reserve price on their car.

Do you still have a commitment to pay Ebay even if you close the auction and if the auction is done for, do you still owe the auction if after closed, you contact the higher bider and do a sale just between you and them? What does Ebay have to do with it, You should only owe the listing fee, Right?
