finish for the steering power cylinder bracket straps

These are the straps(about 3 inches long) with the 2 studs that hold the bracket to the frame. The power cylinder rod attaches to this bracket.

My list, that I put together based on ongoing NCRS posts, shows it as black phosphate. I'm wondering if it should be natural. Same for the nuts.

    This is for a 73

I wouldn't be too concerned about the finish on these reinforcement plates. They cannot be seen when installed on the car. The later GM pieces used for 1979-82 and also SERVICE for all 1963-78 were painted semi-gloss black. The earlier piece was either natural or black phosphate, I don't recall which.

The attached studs were black phosphate. I believe the nuts were, too, but I can't recall, for sure.

I checked and the GM #102634 nut used to attached the frame bracket was a 5/16-18 thread size and 17/64" thick. It was GM 286M material (SAE grade 5) and had a "plain" (i.e. natural) finish. It was once available in SERVICE but is no more.

The GM #102320 lockwasher was 5/16" ID, 19/32" OD, and 7/64" thick. It also had a "plain" finish.
