1958 body drop

I am getting ready to put the body on the frame, i was looking at the radiator schroud can any of it be in place before the drop? How many people put the steering column in as the body is put on ? Thanks for the help. RICK

Rick,

I would attach the radiator shroud to the body first before the drop. I attach a ratchet strap to the support and connect it to the dash through the speaker hole(when w/s is off). This helps to keep the nose from falling off.

I would not mess with the steering column until the body is on.

Rich, Are you saying to install the upper schroud to the radiator? How about the bottom three piecies that are bolted to the frame, can they be in place also.

Sorry Rick I was thinking radiator "support"........

I wouldn't put any shroud pieces on yet. You'd have to have the radiator in because the shroud bolts through the support into captive nuts on the radiator, and that's more weight and chance for damage to it. It's not that hard to fit the shroud pieces later. If I recall the lower rad hose has to be on before the lower shroud goes on too.

At St. Louis, the C1 steering gear/column was in the body at Body Drop.
