In the mid '80's the numbers were assigned by the year you joined and given a sequential number as the last digits. I.E. 85702, you were the 702nd member that joined in 1985

Although I haven't been an NCRS member long enough to have knowlege of the early days of our organization, reading this thread indicates, to me at least, that we should be accumulating the history of NCRS in some sort of archive. I am aware that periodically articles of a "historical" nature of the NCRS are printed in The Restorer so perhaps an archive exists and I am unaware of the extent of the items included therein.

Since I lost one year of membership due to an administration office book-keeping error,........perhaps, I better not comment on this thread....

i have in my possession the cancelled check when my wife lea sent the club $8.00 to join. the check is dated may 13, 1974. its been said that i don't throw anything away, just my mis-spent youth. been a good ride. lots of good memories as well as a few horror stories( those revolved around the Williamsburg 1990 national convention) would do it all over again and yes, i too would sign up for a lifetime membership tomorrow. i'd be happy to make contributions should an archival effort eventuate. mike

Don, by your number I am guessing you joined somewhere about 1990. Somewhere about that time they had taken all the numbers like I posted and changed them to sequential numbers. The sequential membership records start about 1992

I think the milestone pins are a great idea.

                          My two cents.

(Maybe because I am coming up on my 30th)

That is exactly what I was told by Gary Mortimer when I asked back in the '90s. I started to post that, but I got busy at work and sent off my message prematurely. Premature messaging. Better than some other options I guess.
