    Happened to notice the OP's transmission was stamped twice with the VIN derivative. Placement is also different than mine. The next to the last digit on my VIN derivative is slightly raised on both. See attached photos.

      SERVICE cases have no VIN derivative or transmission production code, although they often have other stampings.

      SERVICE transmissions have no VIN derivative, but usually have a transmission production code stamping.

        There are a lot of castings that are blank. you need to realizt that anything is possable. NCRS posters for services has rebiuiders that have any cast & any # you want on the trany.

            Did they stamp all blocks CE if they were replacement? And what did they do with replacement trans cases? No CE stamped in them? I sae a 69 that had been in the same family since new and had no VIN# at all. They swear the engine had never been out! Tom Stanton #41491

              Not at all. I think it's likely correct and original. Someone had asked if there were any unstamped cases out there and I was just describing what sort of cases would be unstamped and, thus, possible candidates for later stamping.
