convertible rear bow weather stripping, do you remove the piping cord from the origin

This is the rubber piece that contacts the deck lid.

I noticed my original weather stripping I took off has a small round piping cord that runs in the rubber and the new weather stripping doesn't have this.

Am I supposed to remove the piping cord and put it in the groove of the new weather stripping? I can do that easy just need to know is that what's supposed to be done.

if so bet theres tons that just tossed their original and didn't noticed the piping cord.

I do not have the answer but if no one else has it call Al Knoch and ask to speak with either Al himself or his brother Dale and they will be able to answer your question

You need the piping cord. It usally is included in a complete top weatherstrip kit. You can reuse what you have if it is in good condition.

thanks guys I put my original one in the new weather stripping and luck would have it I had a tool to do it with I finally found.

I noticed this new stripping is a bit long and it's tapered at the end just cut it or is it tapered for a reason? I ask because about a inch from the end on both ends is a hard piece of rubber inside of the stripping wanted to make sure thats not supposed to be kept at full length and that harder piece kept before I cut it off.

Brandon, I would bet that when you were a two year old, you worried you parents crazy with questions. Cut the damn thing to fit, and you will find that the filler w/s fits into the plugged hole.

Ok there wayne more questions~ haha.

in the picture you can see where I cut the W/S at, a bit too long still I know but I wanted to cut too little off than too much.

anyway, see the open space I put a arrow pointing to? what goes there I didn't see anything in a kit or seperate that would take care of that, I'm lost? and I knwo you mentioned a "filler" so what did you mean by that? are you talking about that area?
