    67 Gauge Cluster "LC"

    I have a 67 that I believe started life as a 427-400 HP.

There is a label on the rear of the cluster with a large "LC" on it. I'm having a hard time seeing the small numbers but does this marking mean anything?

    Thanks.

Yes -- the decal specifies the combination of tachometer and oil pressure and temperature and speedo that was installed in the cluster. This one is off my '65, and it means 6500 rpm redline with 80 lb oil gauge. Others will respond with the exact answer to your "LC", but I suspect it is the 6200 rpm redline with 80 lb ??? oil for '67. I see Long Island is repopping these, but their catalog does not say what instrument combinations they represent.

That's it; Gr 9.750 # 6412522 is the tach with a redline that starts at 6000 rpm. The 6500 rpm redline is 6412223 and the 5300 redline is 6412222.

Hmmm...was curious about mine and just walked out to the garage to check. Car is a 390 without speed warning, per the original tank sticker I removed from the car. Mine shows "LB" and P/N 6455364. Oil gauge is correct 60# for a 390 and the tach is a NOS replacement with 6K redline. PO told me he had sent the cluster out for restoration a few years ago, and it does look perfect. I wonder if that "restoration" was actually an exchange.....

At this point about all you can do is swap the sticker. The resto shop probably mixed up the housings. Assume the gauge needles all match? There are small differences in the needles and script ; original to repop.

                    Stephen,

This car is a daily driver so I don't sweat details like this; the needles are all ostensibly the same but I do not know the differences in the script to determine whether any of the gauges could be reproductions. Further confusing is the fact that all the lenses are installed the wrong way. They are convex as would be on a cluster with the speed-minder feature.

A good winter project. Remove the cluster and reverse the lenses to the correct orientation.

                          Steve,

I don't suppose you ever run across cluster tags for 1978 to 1982 Corvettes?

                          trying to decode one.......
