Wanted to say Hi and introduce myself

    Hi,
I recently joined NCRS and will be in the Arizona Chapter as I reside in the Cave Creek area of Arizona. I'm newly retired from Maricopa County Government. Unfortuneately i don't currently have my Corvette but I've been looking. C2 roadster, Sunday driver, numbers matching, manual trans, and within my budget of $50K. I used to have a '66, nassau blue, automatic, back in 73-78. always wanted another and didn't have the $ until now. any help would be appreciated. It's a pleasure to be here and I'll have plenty of questions as I look. thanks

Re: Wanted to say Hi and introduce myself

Thank you, I've been looking for several months and will wait until the right one comes along. I will keep an eye out in the Mag. I've been looking on line,..E-bay motors,Corvette Trader, Craigslist-phx. and Corvette blogger. Some are private and some dealers. I wouldn't know which dealers are reputable. Mershons seemed ok but their prices for a base car c-2 was 59K. Any other places I can look? Would NCRS members help to check a vehicle out of state for a fee? Thanks Don

            Hi and Welcome
One thought get involved with the Chapter and sign up to be a OJ observer
Judge this will help you to do two important things 1 get to know your
Fellow members and get to know more about the car you want by looking at others. Another thought would be to join the local Corvette Club for the same reasons.
Good Luck ask LOTS of Questions it will save you a lot

                      Donald,

Yes, there are members out of state who will check out a car for a fee. Usually a pretty reasonable one. Just post on here about the car, someone will help you. The advice to get involved with your local chapter is a sound one. Let them know what you're looking for, they may be able to help you find it.

Welcome to the club, Don. The Arizona Chapter has a judging meet scheduled for March 20, 2010 in Chandler and it would be an ideal event to attend and meet other members who could help you with your search. You can find a registration form on our Chapter website http://www.arizonancrs.com/ and I would be happpy to personally answer any questions you might have about the meet or our Chapter.

Donald, Welcome aboard and congratulations on your retirement. Now you will have plenty of time to play with your Corvette when you find one. It's a real buyer's market out there now. If I can be of any help in the Mass area let me know. Good luck with your search.

Donald, welcome and good luck in your search. The two sources I search above all others are The Driveline, which is on line at the top of the page, and Hemmings, also on line. Do alot of homework and speak with fellow members as there are some sellers out there who think they have something they don't.

...and many, many, many, more. I can't vouch for the private sellers, or the dealers. Mecum is an auction house handling anything from exceptional cars to rough examples. They usually have good prices for a knowledgable bidder. Southern Classic Cars and East Coast Classics are consignment shops, as are some of the others mentioned. Southern Classic Cars says that they can find a car for you anywhere in the Country, although I imagine any of these other shops could do the same.

Maybe this will get you started.
