There is no issue of "deviation from originality". These mats were not original for any car. They are a GM accessory item. Point-wise, I don't think that a GM accessory item is considered any different than any other accessory item. In other words, they garner no points, at all, and, in some cases, may result in a point DEDUCTION if present.

      Joe,
I didn't realize that until this thread, I assumed they were without looking into it beforehand. They advertised them as "exact reproductions", so the context of that made me assume that they were original equipment. I purchased some for a '66 I had years back and never got a chance to use them, or I would have knew better this time. This one I have now isn't show material at this point, just a decent driver but when I do replace anything I like to be as original or at least "period correct" as possible, but these things gotta go.

Well if nothing else this made for a good conversation

I put a very small (about 1" square) piece of adhesive velcro on the bottom corners - so far so good....

I had thought about trying that... if you say it seems to be working maybe I will give it a go.

The clear aftermarket mats also tend to yellow/stain quickly and are difficult to keep clean if you drive your car much. They pick up grit and grime which seems to get embedded into the gummy rubber they are made from.
