Repro C2 floor mats sliding all over the place!

My goodness I hope the originals were not like this! These things are like trying to stand on a sheet of wax paper on a sliding board! Anyone have a good solution? I was thinking maybe some self adhesive backed velcro at a few strategic locations??

    Thanks!

Steve, talk about slippin n' slidin. I once had a friend of mine who waxed his vinal red seats on his 67. Had to wear seat belts even if you didn't want to. Bill.

I replaced the repro clear floor mats with the repro black ones - much more stable. Bought then from Paragon I think.

The plastic repros are junk, slide all over under the clutch etc. They are not Judged, get the nice carpet ones and enjoy your car!!!!

If you're talking about the "clear" floormats, the originals were EXACTLY like that with respect to "sliding around". Absolutely, positively the same.

Glad to hear I'm not alone on this. I bought a set a few years back, used them once, then put them away. Never looked at them since. And they are not cheap either. I agree on the carpeted ones. Have them with black rubber on top of that. Lucky we don't have Toyota accelerator linkages - what a poor design.

Yes, these are the clear ones, I guess when they said "exact reproduction" they were making a true statement.
I guess I should have researched that a bit more befor the purchase.

Are the black ones a rubber material?

I guess this set of clear ones are getting put away also.

                      Thanks guys,

Yes, the black floor mats are rubber or at least a rubber type texture; hence, stay in place much better. Look nice on black carpet.

                          Steve,
I have what I believe are original mats in my 67 coupe. (see pic). They are a little yellow from age but otherwise good. I have exactly zero issues with sliding or moving in any way. In fact, whenever I handle them they almost have a "tacky" feel to them. Would be interested if anyone else has an old set.

The only problem I have with my Black Rubber (?) floor mats is that my son thought he was doing me a favor about ten years back and armoralled them. Ever since I have cleaned them and cleaned them with Weseley's white wall rubber cleaner and a day later they are all shiny and greasy like I cleaned them with oil. I thought it was from a heater core leak I had a few years back, but on both sides (?), then he told me only recently what he did. I think that what ever it is continues to leach out. I hate that, but they do fit well and do the job.

Also, for what it's worth; they do make floor mat clips, but I don't recommend them for nice mats or carpets. They consist of a snap clip on one end that locks onto the mat, and a double pin on the other that you stick into your carpet. They are sort of cad or some kind of cheap plating that (up north) tends to rust from salt, etc. I have a set that I have used over the years in my drivers, but I never considered putting them in the Vette. They look too "Tacky".
