Rubber wiring ties for 66 BB

Does anyone sell wire ties made out of rubber for the electrical wiring along the firewall?? I'm trying to pickup a few judging points which I lost at the last meet due to my existing ties being made from plastic. I have a 66 BB car. Thanks for any help!!

I'm a little confused here. Splain that again please. I'm getting old but just can't imagine any rubber ties along the firewall! And who might be the meet and judge that pointed this out to you.

    Thanks,

    JR

JR, I think that he means soft plastic, as the originals were. Unless someone has come out with some repro's, originals are your only choice. There were some on ebabes this week, johnmessinger was the seller

I would also suggest a Junk Yard - when I was looking for them on E-Bay no matter who had them I lost every one to a fellow called " Flying 65" who had deep, deep pockets. In fact, seems to be if John Messinger ever needs Tuition monies I would think Flying 65 would have already covered it.
Must admit once I got mine from junk yards I never looked at them anymore - flying 65 may have reached his quota. Good luck.

Flying 65 is still collecting. Great NCRS fellow!!! When the economy gets better his pockets will even be deeper!!!! LOL!!!

All the junk yards down the west coast is long gone. Only Rice rockets parts.

What a fun hobby we have....... digging into the money pit.

I assume (!) he is referring to the tie straps?

If so, DocRebuild has excellent reproductions. At least for early 70s cars they are dead nuts on.

The ones Doc sells/used to sell are way too hard and were easily detectable in judging.

                  e-bay buyer flying 65?

Are you guys certain about that ebay ID? I can find a flying65 (not flying 65), but that person has 0 ebay transactions. Just curious what else the person you're talking about buys and sells on e-bay.

Flying 65 bought some other mid-year stuff but was really the king of tie-straps. In spite of the vast number he bought he never put any for sale on e-bay - I doubt for what he was paying for them he could have made much of a profit on them. I don't remember him buying any of the white 63 straps that John has for sale alot.

                      Gary,

Original firewall ties, were made out of a soft plastic, (similar to rubber) material. They should be flexible and pliable unlike the repro's which are hard plastic. Originals also have numbers stamped on the back side of the tie. I believe you need 5 ties per car.

I have a few sets of originals. PM me if interested.

Originals have either a RX followd by a number (like RX 15) or a P followed by a number (like P 29) the # needed is from 5-7 don't forget the tie strap on the rear bumper bracket rod for the gas tank overflow hose!!

                          Rich,

The tie that goes on the rear bumper bracket rod for the gas tank overflow is a different type of tie than that of the firewall.

Hey Dave I'll have to check the pt # called for in the AIM But all the originals I took off were the same as the firewall. Which style do you remember it being?
                            Thanks, Rich

                              You sure about that?

I own some of his and also own some from another vendor. The ones from the Doc are much more flexible than the other brand. Granted, they're 14 years old now since I got them in 1996 but they were much better than any others I've seen.
