    Roy Sinor Seen at Barrett-Jackson

On Friday evening I was watching a DVR recording of the Thursday coverage of the Barrett-Jackson car auction/circus. About 2-1/2 hours into the night's coverage, there was a 1964 L76 Sting Ray for sale.

I noticed Roy Sinor standing next to the driver's side engine bay with another guy (who looks kinda like Charlie Cadenhead). Roy first felt the underside of the fender, just outside of the hood opening. He then walked around the car and quickly took a digital photo of what looked to be the car's engine stamp pad.

Roy, can you shed some light on this or does anyone else know why Roy took this picture? I didn't see him bidding on the car and wondered what got his attention.

I can tell you that you didn't see Charlie Cadenhead, unless he has some miraculous powers. I know you only said the guy looked like Charlie, but I can assure you it was not him. I chatted with him at lunch time today, and he spent most of Friday in my Advanced Judging Seminar in Kissimmee Florida.

Seems all two of my good friends are stepping forward to take a shot. Not me in Scottsdale, perhaps an impersonator? I reckon Elvis and I are the two most impersonated folks around. Note that NO one impersonates Dickie, jury is still out on TC.

          Back to Texas tomorrow.

          Best regards,

The BJ auction is going well just now for C2s. I have not seen Roy, but a car says he has certified it. I also have noticed several C1s and C2s with NCRS stickers saying their awards have been certified for BJ. Is this a new service NCRS is doing for auctions? The red 65 L76 vert went for big bucks, while the '64 FI vert didn't, go figure.

The Award Confirmation is something that began last year. BJ requires it for any car claiming an NCRS award. It is available to all members https://www.ncrs.org/award/shop.cgi/...D=PUT_SID_HERE

Wow, 300 bucks to confirm that I have a Top Flight car. I guess that everything (Blue Ribbon, score sheets and certificate) given to me at the Awards banquet isn't worth the paper or ribbon it is printed on. We pay $35 a year, the various fees to get the car judged and when it comes to confirm later on that the car received an award it costs an additional $300. Seems a bit pricey and redundant once you receive an award.

Rick, we believe (I know) that there is counterfeit paperwork out there. I have seen a flight certificate that I supposedly signed that is as funny as a three dollar bill. I have seen blank flight certificates for sale. The confirmation prevents anyone from claiming something that is not.

If you claim a Flight award at BJ, you have to have the Award Confirmation.

Well somehow $300 doesn't sound too bad when these things are selling for $100,000 to $200,000. BJ just wants to be on tyhe up and up maybe, and have fewer complaints of fakes afterwards. Now if they could only have the same thing done with the phony Shelbys, 'Cuda Hemis, and all the shill bidders of the consignors!

                        Dick,
I understand the forgery aspect but what is to say that the confirmation paperwork isn't forged? I know, if you can afford to take your car to BJ, what is an additional $300? Now that this award confirmation service is out there for public knowledge, what if a potential buyer at a private sale, says "I can't trust your Top Flight certificate and Blue Ribbon that you have, get an Award Confirmation Certificate". So the onus is now on me to "prove" that the Blue Ribbon and Certificate I have presented to a potential buyer is "real" and it is going to cost me, as a NCRS member, $300. Sure, I can tell the potential buyer, that the price of the car just went up $300. My point is that we have now created a service that is going to cost the NCRS member an additional $300 over the cost of judging to prove he has a Top Flight car. Doesn't seem fair to the membership.

Why don't we just charge the $300 fee at flight judging to every car and then be done with it? That way the the Blue Ribbon and Judging Certificate has some meaning because as it stands now it is worthless!

Barrett Jackson is paying the fees for the NCRS and Roys service (unless they are getting Roys fees and the NCRS service for free) I have friends selling corvettes and they didnt pay for the sticker that was put on there car - cars, it sounds like Roy is working for Barrett Jackson he was involved in approving the cars discription for the catalog......this is information I was given by friends selling corvettes at BJ, some seem to profit from the NCRS, ( yes I know Im included $100.00 oil caps and the like) I wonder if the NCRS discounted there rate to BJ or Roy, if not this is a good income producer for both..........Thanks John
