Accurately state the specific model, proper size (your size listing is not correct), service description, and ply construction. All this information is molded into the tire.

For example the Pirelli P4000 Super Touring model would be size and service description 215/70ZR-15 98W, and the ply construction is listed in fine print on the sidewall.

Quote all this information accurately, so we know exactly what you have.

Do you know the location of the warehouse they came from and whether it is climate controlled? A non-climate controlled warehouse in a hot climate like Phoenix will cause more rapid deterioration than a climate controlled warehouse or a non-climate controlled warehouse in a mild climate.

Carefully inspect the tires. Do they have any cracks, anywhere?

Paul, 9 year old tires are boardering on being dangerous . I would be very careful with this one. Bill

Based on recent information published on aged tires, I'd say these would not be a wise choice. Especially if you intend to do much driving. JMO.

Under NO circumstances would I purchase a set of tires 5 years old, let alone 9. In a fleet environment we observed almost 0% failures in tires 4 years old or less. After five the failure curve started a steep climb, each additional year the curve got steeper. Personally I have experienced almost no failures on tires under 5 years old with the exception of the occassional foreign object in the tire. We blew three out of six tires on my trailer before they were six years old. These were not el-cheapo trailer specials, but Michlein 8 ply light truck tires that had the air pressure checked and maintained at least 4 times a year.
