It is not a good day for flight judging today. 32 and snow fluries in the AM high of 41 with light rain. In two weeks I sure hope it warms up so we can enjoy the meet.

Re: Old Town Weather
Snow fluries in Orlando? Are you serious?
I have been there in the past when it was 32* but it is better than up North. It is just hard to use the pool.

Re: Old Town Weather
I live in Lakeland 30 west of Old Town. They were predicting ice pellets this morning. Usually the meet will have day temps in the hi 60's, 70's and I've seen low 80's. Nights can be chilly. I always take a down parka, wool hat and long johns just in case. Most years I haven't had to use them.

Re: Old Town Weather
Weather channel just said snowing in parts of FL!!! Daytona, etc.
I remember Cyprus when it was a high of 32 and we about froze. In fact we left the meet early (as a vendor) as no one was walking around the flea market.- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
i too can remember cold evenings in the 80's at Cyprus Gardens. we from up north(still south of the Mason Dixon Line here in cumberland) always had ethylene glycol in the vettes and ethyl alcohol in our tummies. never did pop a soft plug. some of the best NCRS years for me were at the Roach Coach in Winter Haven --Billy C, Howard K, Les B , John A, the Dipstick,Vinny P, Rick R, Vern before the audit,Pappa Smurf, Terry M ,the augusta peckerhead, Dale F, and a ton more of whom i can't remember. those were the days.mike- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
Dr. Mike, Whoe is the augusta peckerhead??? Meanwhile what ever happened to Diptstick??? I miss his posts and I miss him.
That was a very funny post you made Doc. Vern before the audit. Only you could get away with a post like that.
It may be cold in the swamp but at least they don't hear the snow plow guy say. "JD there is no place to stack the snow in your driveway as it's too stories high now". Heard that this morning at 4AM.- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
I was fortunate to begin my Winter Regional participation in 1988 at Cypress Gardens. I've attended every year since. And yes, there were some days that the cold would go right through me. In Maine, we have a dry cold. Here in Florida, it's a wet, damp cold. Two days last week it was warmer in Northern Maine at 7:30 a.m. then in Lakeland. Go figure!

Re: Old Town Weather
I live about 2 hours south of Old Town and it is 38 and rain right now. They said to expect sleet after sundown. And yes they did say possible snow in Orlando. I have been here since 72 after I got out of the Army and this is the longest cold snap I have ever seen. We had snow flurries I think in 89. It was cold for a couple days then warmed up. I hope in warms up soon. They say by next Friday we may be back in the 70's during the day.Where are the global warming guru's now? This cold is world wide not just here.Algore where are you?- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
Tom;
Al Gore's out making money with his inconvenient B.S. He stands to make many more millions off the scam.
Gosh, I sure do hope it gets warm soon here in Orlando. I had to put a sweater on the dog this morning. He has not had to wear it since 03 in Chicago, and he wondered; "What the Heck?!?!" First time he tipped up he figured it out.
Maybe I need to fess up that I may be to blame. I just changed the anti-freeze in the Vette about a week back and put in a 180* thermostat - first one ever (used 160* since way back), so I suppose I need to test it out.
My son flew back in from Phoenix last night and said it was not much better there. Said they went through snow on their decent at about 7 to 10k'. It just wasn't hitting the ground.
Fear not. This CAN'T last until the 21st. Trust me.

Re: Old Town Weather
I would bring my clubs. The old saying is if you don't like the weather in Florida wait a day. And that is sort of the way it is in the winter time. But this is about the longest cold snap I can remember. Tom- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
All------
Many years ago, I used to go to Florida at least once a year, usually around January or February. In northern and mid Florida (i.e. Orlando/Daytona Beach area where I spent much of my time) I found that weather in January could be very "problematic"----sometimes it was very nice, sometimes not-so-nice. However, whenever I motored down to southern Florida during the January-February period, the weather was always nice.
So, I think they should move the winter meet to Key West. Not only would there be a much better chance of good weather all the time, but it would give folks the opportunity for a FANTASTIC ride along the Keys to get there. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
Key West might be OK being as it is as close to Cuba as it gets, but when I looked up the Orlando forecast earlier they were talking about 40* in Miami. They are having controlled black-outs because most of the heat there is electric and the power companies have to ration the power.Terry- Top

Re: Old Town Weather
Not sure Key West is far enough South. It was 41 there the other day, the coldest it had been for 131 years. But it looks like it will warm up in Florida by the middle of next week. Had sleet today in Sarasota with a high in the mid 30's. It had better warm up...
