    Re: Old Town Weather

    Actually, it has been a fairly long cold spell here. I just got my electric bill yesterday and it looked more like one from the middle of the summer a/c season. I hate to think of what next months bill will be like if this keeps up.
    I NEED A BAIL OUT!!!

      I don't remember if it was very late 80's or early 90's but we had a family vacation in Orlando at Disney. The afternoon of our arrival, the Disney folks were wraping up sensative plantings and said there was a cold spell coming.

      Sure enough, the next day the temperature was in the 30's with some snow coming down. Stayed cold for our entire visit. I think we bought every sweatshirt the Disney stores had since we didn't bring coates.

        I think we should invade Cuba with Corvettes and through Castro out. Then make the plave into a Corvette heaven and we would have a warm place to meet. And by the way algore would not be allowed he would bring this freezing weather. LOL

          Amen Joe. Trying to make a choke work on a '66 last year at night in the parking lot at 34F and a blowing wind was not fun.
          Best regards,

            Yesterday we had a high of 37. The weather people went back to find the record and 1895 was 40. So we broke a record. But the good thing is it is supposed to warm up next week.So hopefully we will be all set. Tom

              Tom;

              I think the worst is over now. It is already over 40* at near 10 am today. Forecast looks for steady improvement and near normal about show time.
              Looking forward to seeing you all there. My son said to look at the website this morning at the map of the area. Says the Mecum auction set up is about where the sportsman area was last few years. Don't know if this will help or hurt our event. Have to take a look for myself.

                Stu,

                It is my understanding that Mecum will have their auction January 28-31 down the road at Osceola Heritage Park. Have they changed the date and place?

                  You are correct David. Mecum is the next week at a location different from Old Town

                    pretty good chance it will be slightly rainy .....
                    not storming, but day chances between 10%-20%

                    we will have dry and cold -or- wet and warm for the next couple months.

                    I would rather be on my back judging in the cold then having the wet stuff.....

                      David;

                      I apologize for my mis-statement about Mecum. I just looked at the site map on the website (www.ncrsfl.org) and it has to be a map from umteen years ago. Even from that altitude I can see that the area has changed much since then. Shame on the Chapter website operators for using such an out of date map. Sure, the entry gates, registration and hotels are in the same places, but that's about it. Where it says the Mecum auction area is actually is the sportsman lot and additional vendor space.

                      I can't understand why they would use such an old aerial view when it is so easy to get a satellite view online, zoomed down to show even the smile on the Top Flite candidate's faces.

                      What do you say Ed? Can't we do better?

                        Mike, you like me, are having a nostalga attack. Those days are like the days of our youth, never to be regained, but good memories. The days when heart disease, asthma, emphysema, bad eyes, worn out joints, hair falling out, diabetes, were things that old people talked about, we were imortal and they would never cause us any problems. The days of the Zed R-1 "boombox", copious amounts of the "beast" or Gentleman Jack, late night B.S. sessions in the parking lot. Good memories to be cherished, never to be forgotten (at least until Alzheimer's takes them). Memories and friends that keep me coming back to NCRS meets.

                          I thought that was an old map. Just wanted to make sure things hadn't changed. Looking forward to another

                              OK, here is the last part of the 10 day forecast for Kissimmee.

                              Jan 18...high 71, low 51, partly cloudy
                              Jan 19...high 69, low 52, mostly sunny
                              Jan 20...high 71, low 59, scattered showers

                              Have to guess at the rest for now. I will arrive on the 18th, and be there through the 23rd. I am guessing (hoping) that temp highs will be around 70 for the end of the week as well.

                              Yep, I have been there when there was ice hanging from the orange trees.
