    3748770 Heads

In Sept '07, there was a query on this board about 3748770 cylinder heads that did NOT have X58 cast into the side. The basic answer provided here was to contact the judging team leader. No follow-up answer was provided. My 1990 version of the JG also called out the "X58".

Today I looked at two 770 heads (Sept '57 and Jan '58) that also did NOT have an "X58" casting and they are Flint castings. Surely there must be an answer to this question?????

    Loren,

Think the question was asked and answered by you. I also had a set of 770 heads that did not have the X58. Don't remember the date.

      Loren Joe
In the same vain as the 58X, I have two 56 Flint blocks that do not have the hex head oil plug in front. When it warms up I might take and post pictures. Have a good weekend.

I'm not sure what the little checkmark means - "Don't Answer"? - but after 105 views, 4 "newcomers" (#14, 171, 912 & 1011) seem to have two anomalies - neither of which rates a comment from judging teams.

Loren, i checked stock, and all of my 770's are in the oct. , nov. range and have the 58x, i was always under the imprecision, that only initial foundry runs had the x mark to alert workers to look for flaws, i was told that by an old worker when i toured the Flint engine plant in the early 90's, was he BS'ing me? probably, but it sounds as good as any other theory i've heard,
