Brake Line Clips

Just got a brake line clip set for my '73 from a popular vendor. The smaller ones don't look like my originals. They are slightly less in width and the ridges on the sides are much bigger.
I looked a few other vendor's pics and they all seem to look like this. I guess my only option is to clean and replate the originals?

Hi Chris,
I found the same situation for the fuel and brake line clips on my 71. The new clips all seemed to be just 'close' to the originals in configuration. So I ended up replating the originals as you're thinking of doing.

Thanks Alan,

Just cleaned up one of my originals and it looks real nice. It actually has 5/16 stamped on the round line end, and a "p" on the front flat portion.

Alan,What type of plating were on the clips was it a zinc or cad. plating

Here's a couple pics of the 5/16" clips (little fuzzy). Looks like zinc plating for '73.

Chris, Thanks for the pic.s, I have my original clamps and cleaned them up but none of the plating is left, I used a electric wire wheel and cleaned up nicely, they look like your pic.s I seacrhed the archives and found some answers , but still question whats correct, some say front and rear cross members clamps where a zinc plated and the ones down the frame rails were possiablely black phosphate ,as the bolts that retain the clamps are plated black.


I would be greatful for some of you C3 guys input on the correct finishes. thanks Ed.
