    Colors for a 1961

My car is currently Honduras Maroon. Since there is no trim tag on the car, other than the Vin on the steering column, is there anything, by the numbers, preventing me from changing the color?

      Hi Jerry:

If done properly, I don't believe anyone would ever be able to tell. There of course is overspray in many areas that would have to be addressed.

When I had a 60, we could not determine the original color as it had been several colors over the years. We painted it black and when finished no one ever questioned it.

      Good luck.

      Bob

Ok I will let you paint it only if you promise not to paint it with a wakky pearl paint or crazy ass colour. You have the choice of Irmine White, fawn Beige, honduras Maroon (what were they thinking), Jewel Blue,Roman Red, Sateen Silver, Tuxedo Black. Sateen silver is a great colour but really hard to paint and if you ever have a damage part you will never be able to match it. Irmine white is to creamy and it looses that classy colour that the earlier white cars had. Jewel Blue is nothing on a Regal Turquoise 58 car. So you are left with Red everyone has a red car and Fawn hmmmm old people ware beige !! Tuxedo black now were talking but the body has to be perfect !! My choice Sateen it looks more modern and Tuxedo with a top notch body. What colour are you thinking of Gerald and don't say Fawn LOL (I'm only stirring about the colours I'm sure there is a Maroon car out there I have never seen that actually looks good) Stewy

Right, anything goes pre 63. As you likely know the only place color shows up is in green grease crayon behind the passenger seat on 61-62, and on the right side trunk partition panel pre 62.

I suppose you could get a green grease crayon and (insert text here).

I'm thinking Black with Silver coves. And, no, I'm not going to paint it any wacky colors!! I'm a conservative Banker from New England and I don't do Beige very well.

              Thanks everyone,

              Jerry

REAL original colors on the car. 68k miles. I am 3rd owner. with paperwork including the original invoice! No hit body, no radio, no heater.

It had one repaint in 83. Not perfect but all original parts!

                      Likely will be in Kissimmee.
