Well, your carrier has the correct casting 3818753-N for a '63 -early '65. I assume the stamped code is CB_10_18_62. But your rear cover is the (after) early '65 thru "forever" (into the '70s) # 3871735 (upside down when installed), instead of the 3830303 expected for '63 to early '65.

So I would have someone spin the input versus side yokes to verify ratio. It could be 3.36 posi, or anything else if the yoke and pinion or even the case has been changed.

      Thank you Wayne.
I will look for a new front cover. The drain hole has been brazed over. I have it out of the car. This does raise questions ?? I guess I will crack the cover and look at the gears. Another Christmas gift.

        Wayne,

What's the approx build date on your 64? Is the engine 300hp, 3.36 rear axle is standard with this engine.

              Re: Identification Rear Carrier 1964

Wayne, divide the 37 by 11 and you get 3.36. So you have a carrier that says CB 10 18 62.

That translates to a 3.36 posi. rear built October 18 th 1962. Plus you verified it still has the 3.36 gear set. The date on the gear is September 1962.

For a Dec 8th car, looks like a fit!

Just the rear cover is in question.

              Cheers

There is one problem wirth the date of the carrier. You have an October 62 carrier in a December built 64. The rear is not dated correctly for the 64.

Bob, you are correct, the left side of my brain must be 12 months out of kilter. But it's a great rear for a Dec 8th 63 car. It's too cold here in NH to think about dates properly.
