    ...maybe $150-200 for the day?

I'm mainly kidding and smiling as I type so don't beat me down too badly.
    Todd,

Some owners have gotten into trouble swapping parts on the judging field, and I saw the reprimand(s) at an event in 2003. "If" this type of thing was going to occur, the parts should be swapped prior to the car(s) arriving.

And, realize that if you ever see a car for sale advertised as having received an award from NCRS, remember that it, too, may not have all the parts on it that were on it the day of judging.

      Patrick,

I could see how that might get out of control really quickly and suddenly branch out into a lot of "other" parts as well. Too bad that as soon as anyone determines rules there are people plotting to get around them.

      Good points!

I'm sure this eloquent little dance was first choreographed way back in 1974 when member #14 rolled onto the judging field...

I bought a set of reproduction Goodyear Speedway WW tires for my 70 coupe because the unused spare is the same brand of tire. The tires are very correct and are made like the original tires. My first drive on flat surface roads under 55 MPH was fine and I wondered what all the fuss was about. The only thing I noticed was the flat spot on each tire after the car was parked for a few days this cleared after the first few yards out the garage. Than came a 70 MPH right off an on ramp to the freeway; you guys know the groove's in the cement to get rid of the rain water right?; well the whole body began to shimmy like the dance from the 60's; slowing to 60 MPH helped to relieve this dance step. Well after this happened I decided to purchase another set of 70 rims and I am now in the process of restoring them so that I can install the radials tires back on them when I want to drive at 70 MPH. This has been an expensive process and quite frankly annoying. I spent months reading everyones comments about tires before I made the bad decision to buy these reproduction correct tires. I will use them for shows and short runs only. In California some freeways are flat and this type of surface is no problem to drive on at speed but as soon as you hit the section with the groove's it will scare you and I am not kidding.

TC, I watched the same cigar lighter get judged 7 times at a Regional about 15 years ago. The same gas cap was judged 5 times. Immediately after this meet there was another revision to the Judging Reference Manual. I could put owner's names to a lot of those rules. I get to claim the "no performance enhancement's". I have a MSD box, coil and set of BB spiral core wires that went thru 4 PV's. Sure does make one run better. No mo' tho'
