I expect the real measurement is the 3/8 - 7/16 of an inch that you adjust for on the pedal rod?

Been there. When I bought my 66 L79, the PO had done the same thing. He "fixed" it by making his own longer clutch rod. It worked, but I didn't want a home made clutch rod, so I got the right one. Then the clutch didn't work. So we changed the TO bearing. All good.

        Larry -

The pedal free play measurement is made at the pedal itself, not between the pedal arm and the rubber bumper; shown in UPC 7, sheet A3 in the Assembly Manual.
