    1960 boot bolts

Should my boot lid bolts that bolt to the hinge have washers on them. Mine don't have a washer and look rather uncomfortable. They have a C with a / through them. Is this correct ? Stewy

Stewart, sounds like you have the shouldered bolt, which is ok for your 60, it doesn't require washers, earlier production cars had a regular bolt, usually a TR which required flat and lock washers.

.....Hmmm never knew that. Right, just saw in the 58-60 JG is says either type. Can't say I've ever seen other that TR's with lock & flats.

Boot? ... So Stewy, do you mostly drive with the "hood"... up or down? Hopefully your bonnet's closed most of the time. Wife has a E-Type and I kid her all the time about the terminology.

Boot/trunk, bonnet/hood, hood/soft top, dizie/distributor... Yes, the common nature of the English language breaks down when you cross oceans. I've chaulked it up to another strange mystery of the sea!

You can't say that now. They were used on both my trunk and deck lid. Yes Stewy, they have a "C" with a line through them.

I forget sometimes how correct my non correct car can be. Jim big kiss for those photos. I learned 2 things the other was painted is correct. Sorry I never thought the answer would be in the JG ? I have a bolt in there that also is the same shape as the C/ but has a M on it ? Does anyone know what that bolt is M ? Stewy

Stewart, as i recall M bolts don't appear until 65 or so, i have seen a few in my day but can't remember exactly where they go on a mid year, i think you'll find your M bolt is a bit shorter than the others, here are a few pics of some other original " boot " bolts from 60, 61 and 62, my super late 61 has the O with the slash. cary

Thanks Doug for the photos. I have seen the anchor bolts before on this site but not on my car. They are an unusual looking bolt. Stewy
